LEAVE A LEGACY®'s success is based on the coordinated activities managed by our volunteers in each part of our service area. The following are but a sample of projects and promotional activities that have taken place over the last several years.

Billboards
LEAVE A LEGACY® has had billboards across the state at different times throughout our existence. From Sioux City to Waterloo to Dubuque, billboards have encouraged people to consider including their favorite nonprofits in their will and estate plans.

On Television

LEAVE A LEGACY® volunteers have coordinated several promotions on television including two local television talk shows on public access cable in Waterloo and Mason City.

For the past several years, LEAVE A LEGACY® has promoted its purpose on Iowa Public Television, reaching the entire state with its message. LEAVE A LEGACY® has been placed around key programs like The Lawrence Welk Show, NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, Ken Burns' The War, and The National Memorial Day Concert to name a few.

In Print
Across all regions, Partners are encouraged to place the LEAVE A LEGACY® messages in their own publications. Images and messages are included on letterhead to business cards to thank you notes. Additionally, several regions have developed their own printed materials and partnerships including those described below.

For several years LEAVE A LEGACY® partnered with the Iowa Newspaper Association to distribute public service announcements to its member newspapers across Iowa.

LEAVE A LEGACY® in the Quad Cities developed a tremendous piece to promote charitable estate planning. CLICK HERE to view the document that highlights several stories and examples of giving. This "magazine" was distributed to thousands of households across the Quad Cities area.

LEAVE A LEGACY® has had prominent ads or inserts in the Waterloo/Cedar Falls Courier, Sioux City Gazette, and several other newspapers across the state.

Each month a national LEAVE A LEGACY® ad is placed in The Involvement Magazine. This magazine is published monthly by Marengo Publishing Company and Heritage Area Agency on Aging. It is distributed as a public service to persons 60 years plus residing in east central Iowa. A list of the Region Seven Partners who support this initiative accompanies the ad and is printed as a public service by the publishers.

Events
Local LEAVE A LEGACY® groups have hosted countless educational opportunities for the general public, professional advisors and development professionals throughout Iowa and our border communities. For specific information about activities in your area, please contact your local representative.

For the past several years, volunteers in the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area have held a special tree planting ceremony in the spring. The ceremony spotlights a local donor for their generous spirit and, in the process, three trees are planted - one for the past, one for the present, and one for the future.
