Choosing a professional advisor is an important first step. Potential estate gift donors are encouraged to select a person who is informed about charitable estate and gift planning. Just because a person passes the bar, insurance, securities, CPA and/or any other state exam, does not make that person a specialist in charitable estate and gift planning. In fact, most professional advisors have not had any formal training in the area of charitable estate planning.

For that reason, you may want to carefully consider your options and be sure to ask your professional advisor about their involvement in LEAVE A LEGACY™ Iowa sponsored education seminars or their experience and knowledge in charitable estate and gift planning.

As a starting point, you may want to refer to the list of Professional Advisors who have chosen to become involved in LEAVE A LEGACY™ Iowa. By clicking on each name, you will see information supplied by each professional advisor and their list of services, personal education and experience including charitable estate and gift planning. In addition, you will notice a section that lists his/her attendance and involvement in LEAVE A LEGACY™ Iowa sponsored educational seminars.

You may also want to encourage your own professional advisors to become involved in LEAVE A LEGACY™ Iowa if they are not currently listed. The section in our Web site titled How to Participate outlines the details for professional advisors.
